Accion names new managing partner

US-based investor, Accion Venture Lab, has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of Rahil Rangwala as co-managing partner.

He has been tasked with co-leading deals in financial services technology companies globally and will work alongside Amee Parbhoo, co-managing partner.

Rangwala joins Accion from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, a US-based non-profit organisation, where he was director in the five years to 2022.

He moved into the role from being program officer for over four years from 2011 to 2015.

Prior to that, he was at Babajob, a technology company based in India, where he was fellow for less than a year in 2011.

He also worked at Drishtee, a not-for-profit organization based in India, where he was project manager for less than a year in 2009.

Rangwala joined Drishtee from Bridgewater Associates, a US-based investment firm, where he was for over seven years. He was manager in the three years to 2008.

He moved into the role from being associate for over four years from 2001 to 2005.

His appointment comes after Accion bolstered its senior team with the appointment of Nazanine Scheuer as its new chief development and partnerships officer, in 2021.

Accion Venture Lab is a $10 million early-stage investment platform set up in 2012 by US-based investor Accion, to back seed deals across emerging markets – with an initial focus on East Africa and South Asia.
